Casa de Misericordia

Casa de Misericordia is an intentional community whose purpose is to respond to the needs of migrant persons at the USA/Mexico border in Southern California.

Casa is an organization with three distinct, and mutually enriching characteristics.

  • A Community-Service Provider

  • An Intentional Living Community

  • An organizer of Border Experiences and Service/Learning Projects

A Community-Service Provider

Casa has several ministry projects positioned to address the particular needs of Barrio Logan, and build strong community relationships every step of the way. See how you can get involved with our Community Resource Center, Garden, English as a Second Language Program, Free Food and Clothing or Food Distribution.

Casa de Misericordia is a collaborative home uniting the Sisters of Mercy, Franciscan Sisters and Sisters of St. Joseph. We open our home every Tuesday evening for a gathering of the Word with Mercy, host various fellowship gatherings throughout the year, and take in guests who seek discernment, community and rest.

An Intentional Community

An Organizer of Border Experiences
& Service Learning Projects

Casa de Misericordia partners with organizations on both sides of the Mexico border leading groups of Health Care workers and High School students. We operate under a model of action and reflection to help shape our participants to do justice in their everyday lives. Casa de Misericordia San Diego is a work of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.
Its administrative offices are located across the street from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Barrio Logan
and its Community Resource Center is located next to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Working together, Casa de Misericordia and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church
are ministering to the needs of those who are most vulnerable and marginalized.
